    Dotson Vows Revenge

    By Mike Fisher,

    2024-08-25

Revenge? New Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Jahan Dotson might be in position to get it from the Washington Commanders - the team that just traded him and in a sense gave up on him - but not for the reason he apparently thinks.

Washington found Dotson being buried on the depth chart in terms of guys who deserve playing time. Maybe the new regime views him as an "old regime'' guy and he simply didn't fit, his status as a first-round pick of Washington notwithstanding.

So ... The two NFC East rivals play each other twice during the 2024 NFL season. And now that Dotson is an Eagle instead of being a Commander, he's targeting those games in a sense.

"I won't take it personal,'' Dotson said, reflecting on his time with the Commanders, "until we play Washington.''

Is Dotson likely to be the guy who comes up smiling with his sought-after "revenge'' after those two games? Right now, the perception is that the Eagles "won the trade.'' The Commanders dealt him to Philly for a third-round pick and two seventh-round picks in the 2025 NFL Draft (the Commanders gave the Eagles a fifth-rounder back) ... and if Dotson's new team beats his old team?

That will seem like a win again. And again. But there is this: Having watched Dotson in Washington, yes, it is likely that the Eagles will have the last laugh over the Commanders when they do head-to-head. But that doesn't mean it's likely that Dotson will be a major force in those final scores.
