Bucs Todd Bowles 'Has a lot of Trust' in Backup QB Kyle Trask

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are coming off a 24-14 win over the Miami Dolphins where quarterback Kyle Trask looked very serviceable. Baker Mayfield played the first drive, but then all the signal calling was handed over to Trask.

Head coach Todd Bowles spoke in a press conference following the game about Trask:

"He's getting valuable experience sometimes you just run into [situations]," said Bowles. "He played behind [Tom] Brady, and now he's behind Baker. He's just happened to have the unfortunate opportunity to go behind a couple quarterbacks but we have a lot of trust in him. He really sees the game well, we will not have a problem playing him."

Trask made the most of his snaps in Friday's preseason win. He was the reason the offense was so efficient for most of the game by completing 17 of 24 passes for 141 yards, two touchdowns, and most importantly, no interceptions.

Trask is entering his fourth season in the NFL and has yet to see any real meaningful snaps, but looks to be experienced enough that he can be called on and still productive. Bowles also had this to say about Trask's maturity:

"From a maturity standpoint, adjusting to the different schemes and the playbook, and being confident out there making the right reads," said Bowles. "Whether he's behind the first line, second line, or third line he makes plays, and he gets receivers open."

You hope as a Bucs fan you don't have to see Trask in the regular season because that would mean an injury to Mayfield, but it's a welcome sign to have another veteran in the quarterback room.
