Two-time Olympic pole vaulting champion Mondo Duplantis has once again broken his own world record, proving what makes him a standout in the sport.

Just three weeks after his captivating performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where he soared to 6.25 meters and took home gold in world record fashion, Duplantis was back in the spotlight on Sunday, August 25, at the Silesia Diamond League meet.

Having already clinched the win, the 24-year-old Swede decided to go for it again. And, true to form, he cleared 6.26 meters, setting a new world record for the tenth time.

In a candid interview after the competition, Duplantis shared his thoughts not only on winning but also on how he continues to break the record.

    "I'm like that," he said.

Duplantis has truly made a name for himself in the world of pole vaulting, and he’s done it with style. After two standout years with LSU’s track and field team, he turned professional, and his career has soared ever since. Today, Duplantis is not just one of the greatest pole vaulters of all time; he might just be the best.

Aside from breaking the world record 10 times, here is a list of medals that he has won since college:

    • Olympics - two gold
    • World Outdoor Championships - two gold, one silver
    • World Indoor Championships - two gold
    • Diamond League Finals - three gold
    • European Outdoor Championships - three gold
    • European Indoor Championships - one gold
    • NCAA Championships - one gold

Born in Lafayette, Louisiana to an American father and a Swedish mother, Duplantis could have competed for either country. However, since his early days in youth competitions, he has chosen to represent Sweden.

Next up for Duplantis is the Diamond League Finals in Eugene, Oregon on September 7, 2024. Fans will be watching closely to see if he can break the world record for the 11th time.
