The Washington Commanders faced early adversity in their preseason finale against the New England Patriots at Commanders Field in Greater Landover, Maryland. With a little over 8 minutes remaining in the first half, the Commanders’ offense has struggled to find its footing, highlighted by a costly interception that has kept them trailing.

After the Patriots took a 7-0 lead late in the first quarter, the Commanders struggled to respond. Quarterback Jeff Driskel’s and the Commanders offense continued to face difficulties, including penalties that pushed them back and prevented any significant progress. Following a short 16-yard drive that ended in another punt, the Commanders defense managed to force a three-and-out, giving the ball back to Washington at their own 33-yard line.

However, on the very first play of the drive, the Commanders’ offense faltered once again. Driskel threw a short pass over the middle intended for wide receiver Mitchell Tinsley , but the pass was intercepted by Patriots linebacker Joe Giles-Harris. This turnover further compounded Washington’s offensive struggles and gave New England another opportunity to extend their lead.

With less than 8 minutes left in the first half, the Commanders have yet to find their rhythm on offense. As the game progresses, they’ll need to regroup and overcome these early setbacks if they hope to build any momentum heading into the regular season.
