NFL Ref Shawn Hochuli’s Sassy Penalty Announcement is Going Viral

The final NFL preseason game took place on Sunday Night Football between the New England Patriots and Washington Commanders.

The two teams that picked No. 2 and 3 battled it out, both of which underwent a coaching change and quarterback change in the offseason.

With the second quarter winding down, Drake Maye delivered a beautiful pass to KJ Osborn for a touchdown.

Unfortunately, the touchdown was wiped away due to an illegal formation penalty on Chukwuma Okorafor.

To make things worse, it was the third illegal formation call on Okorafor in the game. On top of that, referee Shawn Hochuli went viral for his penalty call on Okorafor, saying, "Once again."

Fans quickly took notice of Hochuli's comment. Just a half hour after the video was posted, it already had 41,000 views. Another video by The 33rd Team had nearly 20,000 views at the time.

"Even the refs are sick of the Patriots offensive line," one user on X wrote. Others kept saying the same thing, pointing out that Hochuli said: "Once again."

Patriots reporter Mark Daniels also took note of Hochuli's comment: "Once again..."

It was a perfect description from Hoculi. Not only was Okorafor called for his third illegal formation of the game, but that call marked the fifth different penalty by the Patriots offensive line in the first half.

Shawn Hochuli is the son of former NFL referee Ed Hochuli, who himself underwent much criticism during his days in the league.

Other fans stated that Shawn Hochuli could sit out the second half since he was already in "midseason form" due to all the penalty calls.

"We need to remove Shawn Hochuli from this game. He is already in mid-season form, give him some rest," one fan said on X.

Nonetheless, Shawn Hochuli's hilarious announcement on the Patriots offensive line will be going viral for days to come.
