The Philadelphia Eagles vowed during the end of the 2023 season that they would look to change their practice schedule in training camp and how the team would handle preseason work.

It didn't take long for the Birds to change their mind, though.

Philadelphia opted to sit their starters on offense throughout the preseason due to the team's physical training camp and joint practice work. A decision that head coach Nick Sirianni explained even further.

"We felt like the work that we got in the joint practice versus the New England Patriots, the inner-squad that we had at the stadium prior to our first preseason games, and then the two inner-squads scrimmages that we had, you know, was our work for the ones," Sirianni explained. "That's why we decided to go that way."

Sirianni enters the 2024 season on the hot seat as a head coach. Philadelphia needs its full core of starters and stars to win in the upcoming year ahead to make sure that everyone keeps their job.

Throwing them in harm's way during the preseason would directly change that idea at least potentially. It's why Sirianni's decision to rest key members of the starting lineup always made the most sense.
