Yoshinobu Yamamoto is set to make his rehab start with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Wednesday per The Athletic's Fabian Ardaya , marking a significant step in his recovery from a strained rotator cuff.

This announcement comes as the Dodgers aim to have him back in the lineup by mid-September.

Yamamoto will take the next step in his return from a strained rotator cuff with this start. Yamamoto has recently thrown multiple bullpen sessions and completed a two-inning simulation game on Wednesday as he progresses through his throwing program. The rehabilitation start will bring him even closer to a return to the Dodgers.

Yamamoto has been sidelined since June 15, when he pitched just two innings before being placed on the injured list.

He was later transferred to the 60-day IL. Prior to his injury, he had a solid season, starting 14 games with a record of 6-2 and a 2.92 ERA, including a remarkable stretch where he allowed only one earned run over his last three starts.

The Dodgers signed Yamamoto to a 12-year, $325 million contract last December after he excelled in Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball, where he boasted a 1.82 ERA and was a three-time league MVP.

As Yamamoto prepares for his return, the Dodgers are also monitoring the status of ace Tyler Glasnow, who is dealing with elbow tendonitis and is expected to remain on the injured list until at least September.

With the postseason approaching, the Dodgers are hopeful to have both pitchers back to strengthen their rotation as they pursue another World Series title.
