Chennedy Carter Makes Her Thoughts on Chicago Sky's Close Losses Extremely Clear

Chicago Sky fans experienced a rollercoaster of emotions during their matchup with the Las Vegas Aces on Sunday.

The Sky showcased tenacity in the first half with strong defense and effective scoring, but ultimately suffered a heartbreaking defeat when A'ja Wilson scored a last-second layup. This crushing blow came after Chennedy Carter's dramatic shot tied the game with only one second remaining.

Following the loss, Carter shared her thoughts on the difficult defeat.

When asked about finding moral victories in close losses, Carter was candid about the pain of falling short in close games.

“For me, no, just because in Connecticut [on Friday], it came down to the wire, two points. Then tonight [it was two points]. For me, it’s like, dang, just trying to fight, to battle through no calls, trying to battle and get these wins and just not coming out with the ‘W’. It hurts me, you know?” she said after the Sky's 77-75 loss.

Despite the disappointment, Carter remained focused on improvement.

“So just gotta go back to the drawing board, get back with coach, watch film, see what we didn’t do correctly because of course we made some mistakes, and then just try to get better and continue to make this playoff push.”

Carter led Chicago with a game-high 25 points, shooting 75% from beyond the arc. Her most crucial three-pointer tied the game in the final moments, only for Wilson to secure the win for Las Vegas with a buzzer-beater.

The loss dropped the Sky's record to 11-18, leaving them just one victory ahead of the ninth-placed Atlanta Dream. Despite the setback, Carter remained optimistic.

“I think it just shows our growth… this will get us ready for the future.”
