Social media is abuzz with reactions to the tragic passing of Morgan Academy quarterback Caden Tellier, who succumbed to a brain injury sustained during the school's home opener on the night of Aug. 23, leading to his death on Aug. 24.

Tellier sustained the injury after being tackled during the third quarter of Friday night's game against Southern Academy in Selma, as reported by headmaster Bryan Oliver to Al.com.

The 16-year-old junior experienced a brain injury and was airlifted to the University of Alabama at Birmingham hospital that same night, according to Oliver. The death of Tellier was later announced by his family on social media.

"Our boy, Caden Tellier has met Jesus face to face. We appreciate all of your prayers, and we covet them for the hard days ahead," their statement said. "Everyone who knows Caden has known kindness, generosity and love, and true to his nature, he is giving of himself one more time. Lives have been touched by the way he lived and now lives will be saved through his passing."

Oliver confirmed to the news website that Tellier was an organ donor.

"There are no words to describe how we feel as a school community and family," Oliver wrote Saturday night in a statement on the school's Facebook page. "Caden will never be forgotten for who he was and what he means to Morgan Academy."

Following the news, current U.S. senator and former football head coach Tommy Tuberville as well as football fans took to social media to share their grievances and prayers for the Tellier family.

Here are Tuberville and the fans' reactions to recent events:
