Adam Schefter Sends Heated Message to Cowboys Amid CeeDee Lamb Holdout

ESPN analyst and NFL insider Adam Schefter delivered a fiery message to the Dallas Cowboys regarding the holdout of All-Pro wide receiver CeeDee Lamb.

Schefter expressed his astonishment that the two sides are about $1 million per year apart on a contract extension, with neither willing to compromise.

“How hard is it to bridge that difference to get one of the most valuable players in football back into the fold less than two weeks before the start of the regular season?,” Schefter questioned.

He suggested that the Cowboys could resolve the issue by backloading Lamb’s contract, which would raise his average salary and address the problem of making him one of the highest-paid wide receivers in the NFL.

“If you’re the Dallas Cowboys, pump up the last few years, inflate the average salary, get the guy in camp, and get it done!” Schefter said. “Like what are we doing?” he added.

Lamb is set to play the 2024 season under his fifth-year option, worth around $17.9 million.

NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reported last week that Dallas offered Lamb around $33 million per year, which would place him among the highest-paid receivers, but still falls short of Justin Jefferson's $35 million per year.

Lamb is reportedly seeking more per year and still wants to finalize details on the structure, cash flow, guarantees, and front-end of the deal.

With the Cowboys kicking off their regular season in 13 days against the Cleveland Browns, who boasted one of the NFL's most talented defenses last year, they’ll need Lamb in the lineup to kick the season off on the right foot.
