Wizards Star Kyle Kuzma Bats for Four-Point Shot in the NBA

Washington Wizards star Kyle Kuzma is currently in the Philippines as part of his promotional tour in Asia.

He landed in Manila on Sunday after joining fellow NBA studs Jimmy Butler, Paul George and James Harden in Hong Kong for a charity game organized by NBA legend Yao Ming.

During an interview with local reporters, Kuzma was asked about the four-point shot, which was recently implemented by the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). While it has received mixed reviews from Filipinos, Kuzma was all for it.

"Yeah, 100%," Kuzma said, as quoted by GMA's Bea Micaller in a report. "I think it’s good for the game."

The rule was adopted by the PBA, the oldest basketball league in Asia, in its aim to increase the excitement and intensity of the games while offering teams a new strategic element. It was also viewed as a new come-on for fans.

The 29-year-old Kuzma, who won a title with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2020, expressed optimism that the four-point shot could also be considered by the NBA in the future.

"It allows more space, and at the end of the day, a lot of us shoot deep threes anyway," added the versatile forward, who shot 33.6% from the three-point arc last season.

"I think it’ll be more dramatic in the NBA and fans will probably like it, too, and Steph (Curry) would probably get way more four-points."

Aside from Curry, guys like Damian Lillard, Trae Young, Luka Doncic and even LeBron James have embraced shooting from way deep in recent years.

In 2017, NBA commissioner Adam Silver said he might introduce a four-point shot in the All-Star Game but nothing came to fruition.
