The Los Angeles Angels faced a tough weekend, getting swept by the Toronto Blue Jays in a four-game series. The situation worsened when outfielder Taylor Ward broke up a potential no-hitter in the ninth inning, but the Angels still lost 3-1.

Adding to their woes, reliever Mike Baumann was claimed off waivers by the Miami Marlins after the Angels designated him for assignment.

Baumann had been a trade deadline acquisition from the San Francisco Giants, but his time with the Angels was short-lived. He struggled during his stint, posting a 6.75 ERA in 9.1 innings over 10 appearances, allowing eight runs on 14 hits, including two home runs.

Baumann's departure marks his fourth designation for assignment this season. He began the year with the Baltimore Orioles and has also played for the Giants and Seattle Mariners.

Despite his challenges, the Marlins are likely hoping he can provide some relief depth, especially given their injury struggles this season.

Still, in 46 appearances this season, Baumann is now headed to pitch for his fifth franchise while owning a 5.24 ERA and 77 ERA+. But injuries have crushed the Fish this season, which is probably why they're bringing Baumann into the fold.

In Baumann's absence, the Angels activated Ryan Zeferjahn, who had a rough outing in his first appearance, allowing two earned runs on just one hit while walking two batters.

However, he did manage to strike out four, offering a glimmer of hope for the Angels' bullpen moving forward.
