Jets' Week 1 Breakdown: 49ers Continue to Deal With Trent Williams Holdout

Trent Williams is considered one of the best offensive linemen in the NFL, and a big piece of why the San Francisco 49ers have been among the elite teams in recent years.

As San Fran tries to prepare for a conference title defense, though, Williams has been unhappy with his current contract and held out from the team in training camp.

According to reports by Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, that holdout could even continue into the regular season.

That would be terrific news for San Francisco's Week 1 opponent in the New York Jets .

The Jets have their own holdout problem of their own in Haason Reddick. But while Reddick is considered the newcomer and final edition to the roster puzzle, Williams is the face of what makes the 49ers such a deadly team to prepare for.

It's also why the Jets should be thrilled that Williams remains away from the team going into preparation for their Week 1 showdown.

Despite the concern of Reddick not being with the team, the Jets' defense can still be considered elite with the likes of All-Pro defensive tackle Quinnen Williams leading a line that consists of young edge rushers like Jermaine Johnson and Will McDonald.

Without Williams on the field, the 49ers offensive line has historically struggled as well.

The longer Williams remains away from the organization, the better it will be for the Jets overall. And the more of a chance they actually have to pull off an upset in Santa Clara.
