    Steelers Could Add Veteran WR

The Pittsburgh Steelers have been in trade discussions for San Francisco 49ers receiver Brandon Aiyuk for months now. Nothing has come to fruition, and the Steelers still need to add a reliable receiver.

Bleacher Report published an article suggesting that the Steelers could use receiver Robert Woods, who is on the verge of being released by the Houston Texans.

B/R detailed why Woods is on the bubble, and why he could be available.

Robert Woods: Flex Rankings Week 11

“The Houston Texans wide receiver room got really crowded really fast,” B/R writes. “Robert Woods was brought in to bring some veteran consistency and leadership but it didn't take long for young guys to make their mark.

“Nico Collins and Tank Dell were huge assets to the offense last season. Noah Brown was an underrated weapon for them and they traded for Stefon Diggs. John Metchie III has flashed the ability to help in training camp and the preseason.”

This makes a lot of sense, and at age 32, he doesn’t quite fit in with the younger guys who have taken off with quarterback C.J. Stroud. Still ... Even at his age, Woods contributed 40 catches for 426 yards and a touchdown last season.

“The Steelers and Commanders spring to mind,” B/R continues. “Both have been connected to Brandon Aiyuk this preseason. While Woods is no Aiyuk he would give both teams a reliable veteran presence that neither of the teams really have.

“Woods would join George Pickens and Van Jefferson as the top options in Pittsburgh, while he could help replace Jahan Dotson in Washington. The Commanders just traded the young receiver and need weapons for Jayden Daniels.”

As cutdowns continue and more players become available, we will certainly see Steelers general manager Omar Khan being very active to give team the best chance to win.

The Steelers kick off the season on Sept. 8 when they travel to Atlanta to take on the Falcons.
