Bills Released Former Oregon Ducks Quarterback Days After Signing Him

It's been a tough couple of weeks for former Oregon Ducks quarterback Anthony Brown.

On Monday, the Buffalo Bills announced that they would be releasing the third-year passer just a few days after they signed him. Before that, Brown was released by the Las Vegas Raiders after a relatively disappointing preseason game.

Brown was one of three offensive players that the Bills released on Monday, along with wide receiver Damiere Byrd and offensive lineman Kevin Jarvis.

In the Bills preseason loss to the Panthers over the weekend, Brown played well, completing 11-of-12 passes for 1-2 yards and no touchdowns or interceptions. However, Buffalo apparently feels better about where they are at with other reserve QBs like Ben DiNucci and Mitchell Trubisky.

In his one preseason game with the Raiders, Brown got very limited action. He completed just one of his three pass attempts for 24 yards. He also rushed five times for 13 yards in the preseason week 1 loss to the Minnesota Vikings .

Brown was an intriguing prospect coming out of college after his two years spent playing for the Oregon Ducks. He saw some highs in Eugene, beating the Ohio State Buckeyes in Columbus in a thrilling upset. But he also experienced some brutal lows, as well, losing to an unranked Stanford Cardinal team on the road, and getting blown out by the Utah Utes in the Pac-12 Championship Game at the end of the year.

Now we will wait and see if he is picked up by another team this preseason, or if he can sign to a practice squad to start the season.
