Utah's Cam Rising 'Functioning as Well as He Ever Has' Ahead of Season Opener

Utah football kicks off the 2024 season this Thursday against Southern Utah University at home, and with that begins the quest to live up to the lofty expectations and predictions placed upon the program over the offseason.

One of the most cautiously optimistic aspects of the offseason has been the much-anticipated return of Cam Rising for one final campaign. While he showed off his post-injury progress in spring camp, fans and pundits were still weary as the season was still a few months away.

In one of the final pressers leading up to kickoff, Utah HC Kyle Whittingham expressed his confidence in Rising's current form.

"He (Rising) is functioning as well as he ever has, there are no limitations," Whittingham said.

For reference, Rising threw for over 3,000 yards and 26 touchdowns while also rushing for nearly 500 yards in 2022, which was his last fully healthy campaign.

With Rising "functioning as well as he ever has" and a much more talented, deep, and diverse receiving room along with a solid offensive line unit and a multi-level running back room, the ceiling for this program in 2024 is limitless and it all starts on August 29th at 7 pm.
