Five-star athlete Michael Terry III was projected to commit to Texas by On3 Sports Vice President Steve Wiltfong on Monday.

The college football insider has 60% confidence in his prediction despite On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) stating that the Longhorns have a 95.7% chance of securing the speedster’s signature.

Terry III has visited Texas five times , having done so no more than twice at any other school, likely contributing to On3’s RPM projection.

The San Antonio native is an exceptional two-sport athlete at Alamo Heights in San Antonio, posting solid times in the 100, 200 and 400-meter dashes and finished eighth with a 6-2 high jump at the Texas 5A Regionals.

On the gridiron, he projects to be a versatile position flex at the next level, possibly on both sides of the ball. He compiled 995 yards and 20 touchdowns on the ground, alongside 564 yards receiving and another 10 scores. He also added pick-6 in limited defensive snaps.

Here’s how 247Sports National Recruiting Analyst Greg Biggins describes the prospect, who reminds him of NFL Veteran Cordarrelle Patterson.

“Fascinating prospect with a ton of positional versatility. Productive at running back and receiver and could even grow in to a hybrid tight end at the next level. Looked good in limited snaps on defense and would be intriguing as a safety or even off-ball linebacker. Just a rare prospect who could literally play and excel at 4-5 different positions at the next level. At 6-3, he’s tall for a running back but runs with good pad level, has some shake and then the speed to run away from a defense. Some players are more quick than fast, Terry is probably more fast than quick but still shows good short area burst and once he gets rolling, you won’t catch him from behind. As a pass catcher, looks comfortable catching the ball over a defender and making plays down the field in the passing game. Can continue to improve his polish as a route runner and being more natural with his hands, and once he does, his game will take off to another level. Already a national prospect with the track and multi-sport background we love, upside and long term potential are extremely high.”

While a lot can change between now and National Signing Day on Feb. 5, 2025, it appears Terry III will join Texas’ talented skill position group next season.
