Romanian Gymnastics Federation Files Shocking Appeal That Will Further Irritate Jordan Chiles

The drama surrounding Jordan Chiles' bronze medal from the 2024 Summer Olympics simply won't go away, and things have taken another bizarre twist thanks to the Romanian Gymnastics Federation.

Chiles was awarded bronze in the women's artistic floor exercise event at the 2024 Games in Paris, only to have it be ruled that a scoring challenge made by her coaches came in too late, leading to her being asked to turn over her bronze medal.

The beneficiaries in this instance would be Romanian gymnasts Ana Barbosu and Sabrina Maneca-Voinea, who both scored 13.700. The Romanian Gymnastics Federation recently filed an appeal, though, saying Maneca-Voinea was penalized a tenth of a point for stepping out of bounds, when video replay showed she did not.

The fact that the RGF pushed so hard for Barbosu (who held a tiebreaker over Maneca-Voinea) to be awarded Chiles' bronze medal, only to go back and now file an appeal for Maneca-Voinea to win bronze has made fans livid.

And given how Chiles' appeal got shot down for being merely seconds late, folks were torching the RGF for even making this appeal nearly a month after the event concluded.

This situation has only gotten more crazy as a result, and it looks like there's another aspect of Chiles' bronze medal drama that needs to be followed as a result.
