During Monday's meeting between the Indiana Fever and the Atlanta Dream at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, fans collectively held their breath as Caitlin Clark went down with an apparent ankle injury.

While Clark was chasing after the player she was guarding through the paint during the first quarter, she appeared to attempt to plant her left foot before colliding with Aliyah Boston. Rather than being able to plant her foot successfully, her ankle appeared to roll, leaving her screaming in pain on the ground.

She was able to gingerly walk off the court by herself before being looked at on the bench. It was a sight that had many fans on social media worried about the new face of the WNBA, as fans quickly expressed their concerns on the app formerly known as Twitter.

"Caitlin Clark rolled her ankle. Hopefully she's okay😢😢😢," wrote one fan.

    "😩😩😩 whhhyy," added another.

"Scary to watch. Everybody gasped," revealed one fan.

Luckily for everyone concerned, including Clark herself and the Fever organization, she returned in the second quarter.

Despite a slow start to Monday's game, Clark has been an absolute terror this season. According to BetMGM , Clark is the overwhelming favorite to win WNBA Rookie of the Year with -5000 odds.

On the year, Clark is averaging 17.9 points, 5.7 rebounds, 8.3 assists and 1.4 steals per game. She has helped the Fever position themselves to be in the playoffs, as they are currently the No. 7 seed. If they do, in fact, stay within the top eight, it'd mark the first time since 2016 that they've made the playoffs.
