The Philadelphia Phillies have continued their hard-hitting ways from the weekend. Having seven hard-hit balls through the first four innings, most of them have been right at fielders and the Phillies entered the fifth innings with a goose egg in their run column.

Brandon Marsh ensured that the shutout was a non-factor when it was his turn to bat in the fifth, hitting an opposite-field home run to get the Phillies on the board and cut the Astros' lead in half.

Marsh would step to the plate to lead off the fifth inning with the Phillies trailing 2-0. The first pitch of the at-bat would be a changeup from Astros' starter Ronel Blanco , but it would be well outside for ball one.

The next pitch would be a four-seam fastball, coming across at Marsh's eyes, and he would take that as well to get ahead in the count 2-0. The third pitch of the at-bat would be a slider that caught too much of the plate and Marsh would send it the other way and into the seats in left field for his 13th home run of the season.

The Phillies entered Monday on a two-game win streak and are looking to extend it with a win over the Astros. With Wheeler taking the mound for the Phillies against Blanco for the Astros, it looked to be a pitcher's dual on paper, and it has played out on the field as such.

The Phillies now need to string some hits together to push at least one more run across and hold the Astros to two to better position themselves for a win.
