The expectations couldn’t possibly be higher for Harold Perkins Jr. going into the 2024 season. Most mock NFL drafts have the LSU linebacker projected in the top half of the first round next year. He’s on the watchlists for all of the major college football awards and he just recently was awarded the prized #7 jersey worn by many LSU legends in the past including Ja’Marr Chase, Derek Stingley Jr., Grant Delpit and Tyrann Mathieu.

Harold talked earlier this month about his approach to this season and the expectations that come along with all of the individual and team accolades.

What are you seeing from this defense and how much more competitive is it versus last year?

Harold: I feel like we’re getting better but I think the main thing for us is just being consistent. Coming in and just stacking days and just getting 1% better every day.

How about the improvements on the defensive line this season?

Harold: Everybody is hungry, nobody is satisfied with where we’re at.

How about the linebackers being the strength of the defense?

Harold: I love the linebacker room. There’s a lot of love in there…We’re all versatile. We can all do many different things.

Have you been impressed by your team’s running game by going against them in practice?

Harold: I like what the offense is doing with running the ball. That’s something we’re going to have to do. Especially when you have a guy like Kaleb Jackson. He’s the tank so we gotta feed him and let him do what he does best.
