The Los Angeles Rams are exploring trade options for linebacker Ernest Jones, but he has made it clear that he did not request a trade. After a report surfaced about the Rams allowing Jones to seek a trade, he took to social media to clarify his position, although he later deleted the post.

Head coach Sean McVay confirmed that the Rams have had discussions with Jones' representatives and other teams regarding a potential deal. While the team is open to trading the fourth-year linebacker, they have not extended his contract, despite earlier talks this spring.

“In his defense, he’s right. He never requested a trade,” McVay said. “We had communication with his representation, there’s been some dialogue with teams and that’s kind of where it’s at. These are parts of the profession and they’re not fun parts, but they are real parts that you have to acknowledge. Ernest is a pro in every sense of the word."

Jones has been a significant contributor to the Rams' defense, starting in 15 games last season and recording 145 tackles. He was expected to take on a leadership role this year, but his future with the team now appears uncertain.
