Stanford Opens the Season as a 9.5-Point Underdog Against TCU

Stanford gets primetime billing to open the 2024 college football season as the Cardinal hosts TCU on Friday night, where it finds itself as a 9.5-point underdog on FanDuel Sportsbook . Other sportsbooks, including DraftKings , have Stanford priced as a 9-point home underdog.

Cardinal quarterback Ashton Daniels should have an excellent opportunity to build on a solid sophomore season as he takes on a TCU defense, changing from a 3-3-5 scheme to a 4-2-5 under new defensive coordinator Andy Avalos.

With the returns of wide receivers Elic Ayomanor and Tiger Bachmeier, the Stanford offense could be sneaky productive this season. The Cardinal also brings back plenty of defensive production, including leading tacklers Gaethan Bernadel and Tristan Sinclair.

TCU will be relying on redshirt sophomore quarterback Josh Hoover, who missed spring camp with an injury. The Horned Frogs feature talented wide receivers Savion Williams and JP Richardson but have a new-look offensive line with three new starters via the transfer portal.
