The Dallas Cowboys made headlines on Monday by securing their star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb with a lucrative four-year contract extension. The deal, reportedly worth up to $136 million with $100 million guaranteed, including a record-breaking (for a wideout) $38 million signing bonus, has sent ripples through the NFL community.

Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Darius Slay, known for his outspoken Twitter opinions, didn't hesitate to share his thoughts on his NFC East rival's payday.

Slay's reaction on social media reflects the ongoing narrative of top-tier receivers commanding increasingly substantial contracts. Lamb's deal makes him the second-highest-paid wide receiver in the NFL, trailing only behind Justin Jefferson of the Minnesota Vikings.

    “Well deserved!” wrote Slay.

The timing of Lamb's extension is particularly noteworthy, coming after a tense offseason that saw the receiver miss OTAs, mandatory minicamp, and the entire preseason while holding out for a new contract. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones had previously downplayed the urgency of reaching an agreement, a stance that reportedly frustrated Lamb.

For the Eagles, this development in Dallas serves as a reminder of the financial landscape they navigate in the NFC East. Philadelphia's general manager, Howie Roseman, has already secured long-term deals for several key players, including Jalen Hurts, DeVonta Smith, and A.J. Brown, all of whom are locked in through the 2029 season.

As the Cowboys grapple with future contract negotiations for quarterback Dak Prescott and defensive star Micah Parsons, the Eagles' proactive approach to contract management could prove advantageous in maintaining team stability and competitiveness within the division.

Slay's commentary on Lamb's contract not only reflects the respect between competitors but also underscores the evolving market for elite NFL talents. As the Eagles and Cowboys continue their rivalry on the field, the financial chess match off the field remains an equally compelling storyline.
