Sportsbooks Make Bold Statement With Caitlin Clark’s Rookie of the Year Odds

Up through the Olympic break, the WNBA Rookie of the Year race appeared to be neck-and-neck between Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark and Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese.

But 10 days after the league resumed its regular season, the consensus is Clark is beginning to run away with the award. In fact, most major sportsbooks including FanDuel, DraftKings and ESPN Bet have taken away the option to bet on Clark to win ROTY.

BetMGM is one of the few sportsbooks that still offers WNBA ROTY betting, and it currently lists Clark as the -5,000 favorite (with an implied probability of 98.04%) to win the award with Reese in second with +1,500 odds.

Clark leads Reese in most major categories including points per game (17.9 points to 13.5 points), assists per game (8.3 to 1.8), steals (1.4 to 1.3), field-goal percentage (41.4% to 38.7%), 3-point percentage (32.9% to 18.2%) and free-throw percentage (89.7% to 74%), while Reese holds the edge in rebounds per game (12.9 to 5.7).

Head-to-head, Clark’s Fever is 2-1 against Reese’s Sky, and she holds the advantage in points (55 to 44), assists (28 to seven) and steals (five to three), while Reese far outperformed her in rebounding (42 to 22).

Eleven of the last 16 WNBA Rookie of the Year winners were No. 1 overall picks, including the last two — Indiana’s Aliyah Boston and Atlanta’s Rhyne Howard.

While bettors may not be able to wager on Clark to win Rookie of the Year, they can still bet on her to win MVP. Most sportsbooks have her listed with the third-best odds Las Vegas Aces center A’ja Wilson and Minnesota Lynx forward Napheesa Collier.

Clark’s MVP chances vary, but DraftKings and FanDuel both have her listed as +6,000 odds and Bet MGM gives her +8,000 odds. Neither FanDuel nor DraftKings has Reese in the MVP discussion while BetMGM gives her the seventh-best odds (+50,000).

Does anyone remember June 16? That was the hard flagrant foul from Angel Reese on Catlin Clark. Catlin Clark did the same thing even worse to Jordin Canada last night. It's funny when the narrative changes.✌🏿❤️✊🏿
