The Kansas City Chiefs just made Creed Humphrey the highest-paid center in the NFL, and they have the approval of a legendary coach.

Former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick appeared on a recent episode of the Pat McAfee Show , and he gave his thoughts on the Chiefs re-signing their Pro Bowl offensive linemen.

"That kid's a good, young player. He's got a lot of football left in him," Belichick said. "Center's an important position, especially with a quarterback like Patrick Mahomes... Getting the protections set right, seeing subtle things that a center can see on the line of scrimmage about where a blitz might be coming from or a lineman cheating a certain way who can help the quarterback out."

Belichick knows a thing or two about having a good center, as he had David Andrews from 2015 all the way until he left the Patriots at the end of the 2023 season.

When you have a generational quarterback like Mahomes or Brady, you want to protect them at all times, and that is exactly what the Chiefs are doing by locking up Humphrey for the next four years.
