It's a monumental moment for a storied program as they kick off the first game of a new era of Texas A&M Aggies football under new head coach Mike Elko. The Aggies elected to hire Elko from Duke following the firing of Jimbo Fisher , but it's not Elko's first stint in Aggieland.

Elko served as Fisher's defensive coordinator for four seasons from 2018-2021 before electing to take the job at Duke . Perhaps it's not by coincidence that those four seasons were by far the most successful during Fisher's tenure and the wheels fell off completely over the last two seasons.
