The Boston Red Sox (67-64) are slowly falling farther out of playoff contention. Now sitting 10 1/2 games out of the division lead, and five games out of the third Wild Card spot, their hopes of making the playoffs this season may be but a memory. But, 2025 may see the club receive help from one of their young prospects.

In a recent article from Bleacher Report , Joel Reuter ranked the best 25 prospects that are 20 years old or younger. Coming in at fifth place is Red Sox outfield prospect Roman Anthony .

    Here is Reuter on Anthony:

"With an athletic 6'2", 200-pound frame and a smooth left-handed swing, he hit .272/.403/.466 with 27 doubles, 14 home runs and 64 RBI across three minor league levels last season, climbing from outside the Top 100 prospect picture to a consensus Top 25 prospect in the process. He is 12-for-36 with three doubles and one home run in nine games since he was promoted to Triple-A on Aug. 13, and he could get a long look next spring for a spot on the Opening Day roster if he finishes strong over the final month."

Anthony has done nothing but rake at every level of MiLB for the Red Sox. He is currently ranked as the 14th-best prospect in MLB and Boston's second-best prospect per MLB Pipeline .

In three years of professional baseball, Anthony has batted .277/.386/.471 with 93 extra-base hits, 130 RBI, and 33 stolen bases across 842 at-bats in 222 games.

The lefty-hitting outfielder has shown the ability to hit for power, as well as the plate discipline needed to achieve a high OBP.

MLB Pipeline has Anthony's Major League debut estimated to come in 2025. If he can continue his dominance in Triple-A down the stretch, it could be on Opening Day.
