The Philadelphia Phillies (77-54) found themselves locked in a heated battle with the Houston Astros (70-61) on Monday night. Tied at two in the 10th inning, the Astros' Manfred Man would be 90 feet away from scoring with two outs.

Astros' catcher would come to the plate needing just a single to score the go-ahead run. On an 0-1 cutter, Diaz would hit a rocket line drive to center field that was destined to land safely and plate the runner on third. Phillies' center fielder Johan Rojas had other plans.

That potentially game-saving catch would end the inning with the go-ahead run stranded at third base. Just two batters into the bottom of the 10th, the Phillies would win on a walk-off single from Bryce Harper .

Diaz's lineout registered at 102.6 MPH off the bat and held a .570 xBA per Baseball Savant . For those of you keeping track at home, that ball lands for a hit 57 times out of 100. The other 43 times, Johan Rojas is manning center field.

Rojas, 24, is best known for his glove. He enters Tuesday with seven Outs Above Average in center field this season, ranking him 35th in all of MLB and 14th for center fielders. In August alone, Rojas has tallied two Outs Above Average.

While Rojas is not the best hitter, the value that he provides the Phillies with his glove in center field is unmatched. He is mostly used in a platoon role as the weak side, but the Phillies would be better served to have him in the lineup every day strictly for his defense.

Rojas potentially saved the game with his glove for the Phillies last night. It was not the first time, and it will not be the last.
