The annual Drew League was extra special in 2022 after Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James suited up anew for the first time since 2011.

But LeBron wasn't the only NBA superstar who played in the famed pro-am showcase in Los Angeles, as then-Chicago Bulls guard DeMar DeRozan also showed up.

"The King" delivered 42 points, 16 rebounds and four steals, while DeRozan, a regular in the Drew League, added 30 points and 14 rebounds to lead their squad to victory.

After the experience, DeRozan said LeBron's appearance was similar to Kobe Bryant's iconic Drew League stint in 2011.

Recently, on the "Club 520" podcast, DeRozan revealed more details about LeBron's return to the popular league, including inviting the four-time MVP to team up with him.

"Shoutout to Bron for doing that," DeRozan, who now plays for the Sacramento Kings. "He's definitely a real one for that.

"Because, you know, he hit me (up) and he was like, 'Man, what's up? When are you playing in the Drew again?' I'm like, 'Next week. Come f*** with me.' He said, 'Aight, bet.'"

DeRozan admitted that he initially had doubts that LeBron would really show up. But the Lakers forward stayed true to his word, sending the entire King-Drew Magnet High School court into a frenzy.

"Seeing those kids' reactions, you know what I mean?" DeRozan said. "Like they just seen a ghost.

"To me, that's the s*** that makes it feel like it's always bigger than basketball."

Indeed, with LeBron's stature, he didn't need to play in a local league. But as he's always said, he wanted to give back to the community and treat them to a memorable experience.
