CeeDee Officially Signs; Dak Highest-Paid Extension Next?

    By Anthony Goss,

FRISCO — Monday afternoon the Dallas Cowboys and CeeDee Lamb reached an agreement on a four-year, $136 million contract. The deal includes $100 million guaranteed and a $38 million signing bonus, a league record for a receiver.

Lamb now ends his holdout and returns to the team - he is in fact on Tuesday likely to at least attended practice here inside The Star, and he is in the building as of moments ago on Tuesday to sign his deal - as it shift gears for the regular season. That leaves one more pressing item on the agenda for the Cowboys besides the extensive roster cuts they have already begun.

Dak Prescott's contract has yet to be extended beyond this season, leaving his future with the team uncertain at this point. Could Lamb's deal be a sign for progress on that front?

With the quarterback currently participating with the team, the regular season does not necessarily present the strong deadline that Lamb's holdout created.

Less than a week ago, Jerry Jones noted "we’re operating under the existing contract really good," when asked about Prescott's deal. That may be true as both sides have presented cordially in public regarding the matter.

But maybe operations wold be even better under a new contract?

The truth is, as was the case with Lamb and Jones, there is no animosity between Jerry and Dak. They are simply trying to share a vision ...

For Prescott, he's likely to earn top dollar on his next contract, whether the Cowboys extend him or if he becomes a free agent. The more they wait, the more angst grows. ... and the more that likely APY grows, possibly in a way that makes Prescott the highest-paid NFL player ever.
