Travis Kelce has a new backup tight end to compete with after the Kansas City Chiefs and Dallas Cowboys agreed to a low-stakes trade on Tuesday, August 27.

As first reported by NFL Network's Tom Pelissero , the Cowboys have sent TE Peyton Hendershot to the defending Super Bowl champions for a conditional seventh-round draft pick in 2026.

Dallas was set to release the third-year tight end, as Pelissero reported earlier on NFL cut deadline day, but received compensation from KC instead.

In the hours after the news, several notable videos of Hendershot's NFL high-and-lowlights began to resurface on social media.

Perhaps Hendershot's most infamous moment came during Dallas' Thanksgiving game in 2023, when the Cowboys tight ends put on a "whack-a-mole" celebration using the life-size Salvation Army bucket as a prop.

As one fan pointed out on Tuesday, "The irony that he was the one on the outside looking in, and now he’s traded.

The 25-year-old Hendershot was also trolled by some NFL fans over a dropped-pass-turned-interception against the Tennessee Titans in December 2022.

"Peyton Hendershot will fit right into this Chiefs offense!" a self-proclaimed Chiefs fan wrote on X, referring to Kansas City's struggles with drops last season.

After a five-year collegiate career at Indiana, Hendershot went undrafted in 2022 before signing with the Cowboys. His counting stats through 25 NFL games have been limited to date, having hauled in 15 passes for 141 yards and 2 touchdowns.

He'll now compete for snaps behind the likes of Kelce, fourth-year man Noah Gray and 2024 fourth-round pick Jared Wiley.
