LeBron James Reveals Surprising Rule for Son Bronny Before First Lakers Season

Like father, like son. Well, until LeBron James and Bronny James are on the court together, that is.

The James' family made NBA history with Bronny being selected in the second round of the 2024 NBA Draft by the Los Angeles Lakers. With LeBron on the team, they became the first father-son duo to play in the NBA at the same time and be on the same roster together.

Obviously, LeBron can be as proud as he wants to be, especially after maintaining his superstar form since he entered the league in 2003. Approaching 40 years of age, he can be excited knowing he will get to make unforgettable NBA memories with at least one of his sons (who knows, maybe Bryce could be in the picture as well).

However, he is keeping an unbiased mind when it comes to playing basketball, and he doesn't want his parental love for his son to get in the way.

LeBron revealed as much in the latest episode of The Shop, explaining what he doesn't want Bronny to do the second they play on the court together for the Lakers.

"[Bronny] can't call me dad in the workplace... He's gotta call me 2-3, or Bron, or GOAT if he wants to... Can’t be running down the court like, 'Dad, I'm open!'" LeBron said.

Considering the accusations of nepotism LeBron and the Lakers got for drafting Bronny, this is probably the best decision for him to make for his son.

There is no exact telling of when LeBron will slow down and eventually retire for Bronny (and Bryce, potentially) to take his place in the league. But until then, it would be fair to anticipate an All-Star campaign from LeBron as he averaged 25.7 points, 8.3 assists, and 7.3 rebounds last season for the Lakers.

It will undoubtedly be an interesting year for the Laker, tipping off the season against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Oct. 22 at 10 p.m. ET.
