LeBron James Reveals a Name Bronny Can’t Call Him During Games

LeBron James recently revealed that there is one word his son and teammate, Bronny James, is not allowed to call him during NBA games or at the Los Angeles Lakers facility.

While LeBron has often expressed how proud he is of Bronny, he made it clear that "dad" is off-limits on the court.

"(Bronny) can't call me dad in the workplace," James said during a segment from "The Shop" podcast . "He can’t be running down the court like, 'Dad, I'm open!'" he added.

James mentioned that Bronny will have plenty of other options to choose from, including some not-so-humble nicknames.

"He's gotta call me 2-3, or Bron, or GOAT if he wants to," James joked.

LeBron also mentioned that once they leave the facility or are back at home, he's happy to take on the name "dad" again. But while in business mode, he won’t stand for it.

As for what LeBron calls Bronny, he said it won’t change much, as he’s always used his first name.

"It's easy for me," James said. "I've been calling him 'Bronny' for so long. It's not like I've been saying, 'Hey son, hey son.' So it's easy for me."

The Lakers drafted Bronny with the 55th overall pick in the 2024 NBA draft. When he steps on the court, it will mark the first time in NBA history that a father and son have played together on the same team.
