Philadelphia 76ers Player Names Kobe Bryant and Steph Curry as GOATs

There is no real definitive answer to the GOAT debate. For most people, it comes down to either Michael Jordan or LeBron James.

Of course, it is impossible to compare eras and predict how the greats would have performed if put on a level playing field. The majority of the time, it comes down to what an individual prefers and the time period they grew up in.

Every year, a number of fresh faces enter the league. And it is always interesting to see the players that they have been influenced by.

The Philadelphia 76ers selected Jared McCain with the 16th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. There are high expectations surrounding the Duke standout and some even consider him a potential dark horse to be the Rookie of the Year.

McCain recently appeared on Podcast P with Paul George and was asked about his GOAT. The 76ers rookie named Kobe Bryant and Steph Curry, as he said: "Kobe is my GOAT. That's my GOAT. That's why I wore 24 growing up. Then Curry is probably second right there."

It is easy to see why McCain would have been influenced by players like Kobe and Curry. They are two that the 20-year-old guard must have modelled his game around.

Of course, Kobe is one of the greatest to ever play the game. He is not only an inspiration for his ability on the court either. His 'Mamba Mentality' is something that young players entering the league should be influenced by as well.

On the other hand, Curry has changed how basketball is played. LeBron might be the best player of this generation but one could easily argue that the Golden State Warriors legend has had a bigger influence on the game.

So, those are two solid picks from McCain. If he gets even close to replicating them on the court, the 76ers will have quite the player on their hands.
