The Chicago Sky will be without arguably their best player on Wednesday night in a pivotal game against the Washington Mystics.

On Tuesday, the Sky announced that leading scorer Chennedy Carter is expected to miss Wednesday's game due to health and safety protocols. No further information was offered at this time.

Carter is the leading scorer for Chicago this season, averaging 17.2 points per game while adding 3 assists and 3 rebounds per game as well. With Carter out, the Sky will have to rely on Angel Reese, Marina Mabrey, and Elizabeth Williams to get the job done against the Mystics.

While Washington may not be in the WNBA playoff picture currently, the Sky are holding onto the final playoff spot, holding a one-game lead over the Atlanta Dream. Every game on the schedule holds massive importance for Chicago if they want to finish strong and earn a spot in the postseason.

We will continue to monitor the situation and see if Carter can return for the Sky's game against the Indiana Fever on Friday night.
