Aaron Judge and the New York Yankees faltered offensively and defensively Tuesday night against the Washington Nationals. The Yankees had eight hits versus Washington, but they went just 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position. When it comes to their fielding, the Yankees did not do much better, as they committed a total of four errors.

Overall, it was an infuriating evening for the Yankees, who ended up absorbing a 4-2 loss in the interleague showdown at Nationals Park.

"I think we had 3 or 4 errors on the night," Judge told reporters in the locker room following the game (h/t YES Network ).

“Anytime something like that happens, it's tough to win a ball game."

Judge had a chance to be the hero again for the Yankees when he went to the plate with the bases loaded and zero outs in the bottom of the eighth inning. However, he grounded into double play, with DJ LeMahieu scoring New York’s first run of the night. He finished the game 1-for-3 with a walk and a strikeout.

New York now has 79 errors on the season – seventh-most in the big leagues.

The Yankees can’t always rely on Judge to save them. Self-inflicted wounds won’t do them good, either.

The 78-55 Yankees can recover from the loss this Wednesday when they play the finale of the three-game series against Washington.
