Potential Nikola Jokic-Luka Doncic Team-Up Draws 'Extreme' Update From ESPN Insider

It's no secret that Luka Doncic and Nikola Jokic are very close friends. Despite being on rival teams, these two are able to maintain a special bond that transcends the unbridled competitive nature of the NBA.

Every now and again, these two European legends are able to suit up for the same squad. This was exactly the case on Saturday as the pair teamed up for Goran Dragic's farewell game.

These hard-to-come-by moments have more than a few fans dreaming that this team-up would somehow happen in the NBA. As it turns out, however, this potential superstar union is nothing more than a pipe dream -- at least according to ESPN insider Tim MacMahon.

"The [Denver Nuggets] don't have the assets to pull off a blockbuster trade," MacMahon said in a recent episode of the "Brian Windhorst & The Hoop Collective" podcast (h/t Ben Stinar of Fastbreak). "... And the same thing goes the other way for Dallas... For many, many reasons, I would put the likelihood at extremely slim . Having said that, they are really good buddies. When the Nuggets come in town, Joker is over at Luka's house having dinner. And vice-versa when the Mavs go to Denver."

For what it's worth, both Doncic and Jokic are currently locked into long-term contracts with their respective teams. The only way these two would be able to suit up for the same team -- at least for the next few years -- is if the Nuggets and the Mavs are somehow able to pull off a landscape-shifting blockbuster deal.

At this point, neither side seems willing to part ways with their cornerstone superstar, which further strengthens MacMahon's "extremely slim" take.
