Last season was an unmitigated disaster for the New York Jets . ... even though in the 2023 offseason, they were able to pull of a trade for four-time MVP quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

The hype train was at the station. Then, just four plays into the season, the train derailed and set off a chain of events that coach Robert Saleh described as “chaos.''

“To grow in the world, to grow as an individual, you got to live in uncomfortable environments,” Saleh said. “And I would say last year was one of the more uncomfortable environments that you could create for an organization ...

"(But) because of it I think of players, coaches, everybody in this building are better for it and because of it.”

There were so many questions surrounding the team as former first-round pick Zach Wilson just couldn’t get his feet under him at QB and the team struggled to a 7-10 season, the wins coming thanks in large part to their dominant defense.

“I think the team is better for it and better-equipped,” Saleh continued. “As coaches, I think we learned a lot from last year with regards to adjustments and the things that we need to do.

“I’ve said it before,'' Saleh said about his wish. "Not fully injury-proof, but a little injury-proof, where we can adjust and move things on the fly a little bit better. But yeah, we’re definitely all better for what happened last year.”

The Jets prepare to open their season on the road against the San Francisco 49ers on Monday, Sept. 9.

Kickoff is scheduled for 8:20 p.m. EDT. The world will be watching as the Jets look to create "chaos'' ... for the other teams.
