Spider-Man: Cowboys' CeeDee Lamb Explains Cryptic Message

FRISCO — The Dallas Cowboys finally ended the drama around CeeDee Lamb's extension this week, inking their star receiver to a four-year $136 million deal Monday afternoon.

The contract comes with $100 million guaranteed and a $38 million signing bonus, a record incentive for an NFL receiver.

With Lamb now on board for the 2024 season, the focus turns to gearing up the playmaking wideout for football action. The Cowboys have less than two weeks to achieve progress on that front ahead of the regular season.

But before that time, Lamb had some explaining to do in regard to a recent cryptic post involving Marvel superhero Spider-Man. The Cowboys star told reporters it related to his mindset for the upcoming season.

"That’s my favorite superhero," Lamb said. "He’s entering his villain arc and I’m coming back for vengeance, so that’s what that is."

In the comic book and film series, the suit represents a darker version of the famed hero. Given the way last season ended, that presumes a fitting attitude for Lamb heading into a crucial season for the Cowboys' future.

In relation to that topic, the terms that Dallas and Lamb agreed upon cements the case that Lamb factors heavily into the Cowboys' aspirations for their future. The next step will be locking down Dak Prescott, continuing one of the league's most lethal partnerships on offense.

Last season showcased a new layer of this duo as Lamb had the best numbers of his career, totaling 135 receptions for 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns. But with Prescott already with the team, having Lamb back in tow will have to serve for now.

The Cowboys will kick off the season on September 8 against the Cleveland Browns at 3:25 p.m. on FOX.
