BREAKING: Cowboys Sign 4-Time Pro Bowl Running Back Dalvin Cook

A day after restoring their passing game with the signing of All-Pro receiver CeeDee Lamb, the Dallas Cowboys took a big step toward improving their running game by signing four-time Pro Bowl running back Dalvin Cook.

According to NFL Network , Cook will sign a contract and begin the season on the Cowboys' practice squad until he's in game shape and ready to contribute. Cook, 29, had an official workout at The Star in Frisco Tuesday.

Cook was a star with the Minnesota Vikings, with four consecutive 1,100-yard rushing and a combined 29 touchdowns in 2019-20. But injuries and age seemed to have caught up with him and last year he only had a combined 67 carries between stints with the New York Jets and Baltimore Ravens.

He'll join what head coach Mike McCarthy promises to be a "running back by committee," led by Ezekiel Elliott but also including Rico Dowdle.

"The 'washed' talk is going to come when you don't produce," Cook said to NFL Network in the spring. "I just want to go show people I can make a backfield electric. I can go change the scoreboard still."
