Even while he's still traversing NBA courts in his 40s, LeBron James is no stranger to the content game. From his production company SpringHill Entertainment to a starring role in "Space Jam," James was recognized as a billionaire by Forbes in 2023, the first active NBA player to do so.

Now, he's adding to his media portfolio.

On Wednesday, August 28, Netflix Sports announced a new series called "Starting 5" that will debut on October 9.

James is one of five NBA stars to be featured, including Miami's Jimmy Butler, Minnesota's Anthony Edwards, Boston's Jayson Tatum and Sacramento's Domantas Sabonis.

The original series "will follow their 2023-24 season on and off the court," according to Netflix.

The announcement comes on the heels of the NFL's success with its recent "Quarterback" (2023) and "Receiver" (2024) series on the streaming platform.
