On Tuesday, the Washington Commanders washed away five of the seven picks taken in last year’s draft. They release offensive linemen Ricky Stromberg and Braden Daniels, defensive lineman KJ Henry and Andre Jones and running back Chris Rodriguez Jr.

All five where a part of Ron Rivera’s final draft class in Washington, and some suggest that coach Dan Quinn and Adam Peters released them because they weren’t “their players”.

Coach Quinn spoke to the media on Tuesday afternoon about the final cut down and the franchise moving forward.

“Yeah, I think once I took the job, they're my guys too," Quinn said. "We're always going to make what we think is the best decision for the team. That's our obligation, there’s no ‘ours’ or ‘theirs’, or any of that kind of good stuff. Like once I was here, man, I connected with lots of players here.

“So yeah, not looking at it at anything other than just what do we need to do best for the team and really that's where it starts and ends.”

The Commanders are moving forward full speed ahead with the plan they’ve put into action this offseason.

Washington now turns its attention to their regular season opener as they travel to Tampa Bay to take on the Buccaneers on Sunday, Sept. 8.

Kickoff is scheduled for 4:35 p.m. EDT.
