The Philadelphia Phillies (78-54) have received production from almost every spot in their lineup this season. With a team OPS of .750, they rank as the seventh-best offense in baseball this season.

A major part of their offense's success this season has come from third baseman Alec Bohm . Bohm has made massive improvements to his game this season and offensively has reminded most of his 2020 debut season.

In a recent article from Bleacher Report , Joel Reuter ranked the game's most improved players this season. Alec Bohm comes in at seventh place on the rankings, and here is what Reuter had to say about Bohm:

"Alec Bohm has not made the same substantial leap in production as some of the guys ahead of him in these rankings, but there is little doubt he has taken his game to another level this year. The 28-year-old has still not developed into the 30-homer threat most expected him to be when the 6'5", 218-pound slugger was chosen No. 3 overall in the 2018 draft, but that hasn't stopped him from making a major impact at the plate. He leads the majors with 43 doubles this season, and he has come through with clutch hits time and again, batting .317/.393/.567 over 145 plate appearances with runners in scoring position. Bohm has also made significant strides defensively, posting roughly league-average defensive metrics (0 DRS, 2.7 UZR/150) after dragging down his overall value with an ugly minus-40 DRS over the previous three seasons."

When it seemed like the entire Phillies' offense was struggling, Bohm was still plugging away. He enters Wednesday with a .291/.344/.464 line with 59 extra-base hits, including a Major League-leading 44 doubles, 89 RBI, and a 124 OPS+ across 129 games and 552 plate appearances.

Bohm has slowed down a bit of late, batting "only" .281/.333/.417 with 14 extra-base hits, 19 RBI, and a 107 OPS+. While it has brought his season line down slightly, he has still provided consistent production from the fourth spot in the lineup.

Speaking of consistency, Bohm is consistently in the lineup as well. While many across the league deal with injury issues, Bohm has played in 140 or more games in each of the last two seasons and looks to do that again this year as he has only not played in three games so far.

As Reuter pointed out, Bohm's defense has improved as well. While he was once a liability at the hot corner for the Phillies, he has been a defensive asset this season with four Outs Above Average at third base, ranking eighth out of all qualifying third basemen this season per Baseball Savant .

Bohm has made improvements to his game all around. He is a vital part of the Phillies offense this season and looks to be even more so in 2025.
