NBA to Farm: Mavericks’ Luka Doncic Living Simple Life in Slovenia

Luka Doncic is fierce and ruthless when he’s on a basketball court, nailing step-back 3s and snatching ankles, all while trash-talking his opponents in the process.

Off the court, though? The Dallas Mavericks superstar might as well be a 6-foot-7 teddy bear, smiling big, cracking jokes, and spending precious time with his family of three.

Doncic is excellent at his job, racking up five All-NBA First Team selections and a Western Conference Finals MVP in six seasons. He will continue to play the game at a high level for the foreseeable future, but when it comes time to hang up his sneakers, what will be next for No. 77? Well... he might just turn into a Slovenian farmer.

“I don’t know about [playing] 20 years,” Doncic told ESPN last year. “That’s a long time to play basketball. I’d rather go back to my farm in Slovenia.”

On Tuesday, fans got a glimpse of what Doncic's retirement plan might look like as he spent the day climbing on hay bales, driving tractors, and hanging out with horses on a farm in Slovenia.

Like his MVP buddy Nikola Jokic from the Denver Nuggets, Doncic enjoys and appreciates the simpler things in life. Although we're sure there are certain aspects of fame he does enjoy, Doncic will be just fine living a low-profile, peaceful life in the country when his basketball-playing days are finished.

For now, though, we get to witness one of the greatest starts to an NBA career continue to progress, with Doncic gunning for his first league MVP and championship during the 2024-25 season.
