The Oklahoma Sooners will be without one of their top wide receivers when they welcome Temple to Norman on Friday to open the 2024 college football season.

Sophomore wideout Nic Anderson is out for the matchup with an undisclosed injury, according to head coach Brent Venables. Anderson was labeled as day-to-day by Venables earlier this week.

The 6-foot-4, 216-pound threat signed with the Sooners as a four-star prospect out of Katy, Texas, in the 2023 class. He exceeded expectations in Year 1, earning Freshman All-American honors after catching 38 passes for 798 yards and 10 touchdowns last season, including the game-sealing score against Texas.

There is some good news on the injury front for the Sooners offense, though, as senior wideout Andrel Anthony is cleared to play against the Owls. The former Michigan transfer was having a productive first year in Norman before suffering a season-ending injury against Texas in 2023.

Kickoff against Temple is set for Friday at 7 p.m. ET (ESPN).
