The Michigan Wolverines sign-stealing scandal continues to spark debate across the college football world, and Netflix’s newly released Untold documentary, Sign Stealer , has only added more fuel to the fire.

The second episode sheds light on the alleged cheating scandal that shook the sport in October 2023 under former head coach Jim Harbaugh.

The focus is on former Michigan staffer Connor Stalions, who was accused of stealing signs from opposing teams—a move that ultimately led to his departure from the program.

Stalions claims in the Untold series that what he did wasn’t illegal but rather fell into the NCAA’s gray area.

The documentary highlights how some elements of sign-stealing aren’t clearly defined by the NCAA’s rules, further muddying the polarizing situation.

As more information comes to light, opinions across the college football landscape are pouring in, and Danny Kanell didn't mince his words.

Kanell took to X with a two-word reaction that immediately stirred the pot: “Harbaugh Knew.”

Those two words alone speak volumes, but Kanell didn’t stop there. In a follow-up message, he made his stance on the situation crystal clear.

“I wanted to hear more details before really having a strong opinion on what Michigan did. But it's clear: They clearly cheated," Kanell wrote on social media . "They have been blatantly lying about the extent of it. They deserve harsh punishment. The entire Harbaugh era at Michigan is tainted."

During the Harbaugh era at Michigan, the Wolverines went 65-24 in seven seasons prior to Stalions joining the staff. Afterward? They went 28-1.

Kanell's words are reflective of the growing sentiment in the college football world. As more details emerge about the sign-stealing scandal, it’s clear that the controversy isn’t going away anytime soon, and that all parties have an avenue to paint their narrative until an official ruling comes down.

Whether or not Harbaugh faces the full brunt of the fallout, Michigan’s legacy under his leadership will likely be questioned by fans for years to come.
