Michael Thomas Linked to the Raiders as a Possible Free Agency Addition

In March of last year, Michael Thomas was released by the New Orleans Saints and has not landed on a new team. Now, the veteran is being linked to the Raiders by Dharya Sharma of "Sporting News."

"Though the 31-year-old is nowhere near the same player he once was, Thomas can still be an adequate depth piece and veteran presence in a Raiders receiving room that spots exciting but inexperienced talent behind the top-two options," said Sharma.

Thomas' best days are certainly behind him, and he's had issues with the injury bug for the past three seasons. It's hard to rationalize signing a 31-year-old receiver whose end is closer than his future and who hasn't stayed healthy in years.

When Thomas was at the top of his game, he was one of the best receivers in the NFL. During his seven-year career, according to ESPN, Thomas had 565 receptions, 6,569 yards, and 36 touchdowns.

The only reasonable way to sign Thomas would be on the league minimum and for a one year "prove it" deal, which doesn't seem like a deal Thomas would take unless it was for a serious Super Bowl contender.
