Former Clippers teammate Matt Barnes once revealed the underrated aspects of The Blake Show.

The first pick in the 2009 draft, Blake Griffin was selected by the Clippers. Categorized as a force of nature, the 6-foot-9 forward put the league on notice in his debut season itself, winning ROTY, Dunk Contest, and making the All-Star game.

Having observed The Blake Show closely, former Clippers teammate Matt Barnes shed light on the rather unknown facts of six-time All-Star.

“Obviously, the athleticism was insane, but he was super skilled and worked his (expletive) off. I mean, I’ve seen some of the greatest dunks of my life from Blake Griffin,” said Barnes.

The former Warriors champion also spoke about DeAndre Jordan blossoming during the time, and his unforgettable dunk on Brandon Knight. Barnes was a witness to never-before-seen freakish athleticism termed as the Lob City era.

Lob City era - The Blake Show episode

Many believe that Griffin is the greatest Clipper of all time , even more so after the disheartening end of Kawhi Leonard and Paul George’s 213 era. A homegrown talent, the high-flyer played a significant role in earning the Clips some prime-time television spots.

The founding pillars of the Lob City era, Griffin, DJ, and Chris Paul, had the potential to create history with the Clippers, given their immense talent. Unfortunately, internal conflicts between teammates, lack of a common goal, and playoff failures came in the way of what could have been something special.

With years passing and the dawning of wisdom, the trio realized they could have handled the situation much better. Nonetheless, it’s time the Ballmer franchise honors these players, beginning with Griffin, who remains a fan favorite. It will be great to see these jerseys in the rafters of the Intuit Dome.
