DeMar DeRozan Revisits Victor Wembanyama PTSD

It's no secret: Victor Wembanyama is one of the best defenders in the NBA. Last season showcased the monstrous potential of the San Antonio Spurs center. Even All-Star veterans evaded the paint when Wembanyama stalked intruders. Former Spurs forward DeMar DeRozan recalled when Wembanyama left him second-guessing his initial decision.

Jeff Teague is a podcast favorite. In addition to the Club 520 podcast's sense of humor, the retired NBA player's self-deprecating approach to storytelling disarms his guests, allowing their natural thoughts to flow.

DeRozan, known for opening up about mental health, isn't one to stray from expressing himself, even if it leaves him vulnerable.

"That s*** look like a video game," Teague said on a recent Club 520 episode.

Experiencing Wembanyama's otherworldly athleticism firsthand, DeRozan revealed a moment that woke the All-Star forward up to San Antonio's imposing presence.

"I had a drive to the lane. I'm on one side of the key; he's on the other side. I stopped for the layup and pulled it back out," DeRozan said .

Why would DeRozan hesitate on what looked like an easy two-point basket?

DeRozan claimed, "He had the recovery length to block whatever I put up."

Wembanyama dissuades players from attacking the rim . One sequence during the season embodies such a statement. Against the Memphis Grizzlies, Wembanyama stopped a basket on a three-on-one fastbreak. The hype is real regarding the Spurs center's defensive impact.

One of the better offensive players in the game admitting such a hesitation, primarily due to a rookie's defense, speaks volumes for Wembanyama's defensive legitimacy, which is why he ended the season as runner-up for the Defensive Player of the Year award.
